Down in the REAL Pit Lane Park

It was a hot and sunny afternoon. I had just made my way around the KLCC park past a group of tourist, busy taking pictures with the Twin Towers, to find the BWM Pit Lane Park exhibition. Due to poor marking of the location, I walked around the vacinity to find the entrance only to find it closer to KLCC than I expected.

A really big helmut stood guard at the entrance to the "park".

A small crowd had gathered around to see what was all the fuss about. It was pretty hard to ignore the loud blaring sounds of Formula One cars and BMW motorbikes. A group of school kids were treated to catch an early show while the rest of us suffered under the burning hot sun (what fun!).

Abstaining themselves from all liability

Lots and lots of people. Hot and sweaty people.

The doors opened to the public at around 3.15pm. Having received a call from Kat I backed out of the crowd to show her the way to the place. Coming back to the entrance, the crowd had thin out and we were free to go in. Guess I should have hung back in the shade and waited it out. Here are more photos of what happened inside Pit Lane park.

There were lots of people everywhere lining up to try their hand at the various activities.

We got to see what made the F1 cars tick

We got to see how the guys who make the F1 cars tick, train to tick.

We even got a chance to act as an F1 pit crew

People gathering around the circuit to catch some F1 cars in action. Notice he had to use ear muffs and ear buds to protect our ears from the high pitch screams of the cars.

This kid's expression says it all. "It's BLOODY LOUD!!"

The cars came by so fast that I barely had any time to frame my shots.

The stage is set. Check out the tire markings made by the cars. Incredible.

So there you have it. Overall, Pit Lane Park was a fun affair. It is the only time fans will get a chance to take a close look at F1 cars cause even from the grand stand, you'd need binoculars to see the cars. So if you are hoping to catch a glismp of Formula One cars, Pit Lane Park is the place to be. Now that F1 season is over, fans have gotta wait until next year. Happy waiting.
