Ok, its been a while since Jacqueline tagged me on 10 simple pleasures of life, but here I am taking time to reply in kind to the tag.

1. Having a friendly conversation with friends over a meal at a mamak stall.

2. Going out for movies after class/work

3. Taking pictures around town to post up on my blog

4. Blowing stuff up in a computer/videogame

5. Watching anime non-stop...

6. Taking candid shots of people doing various embarassing things.

7. Being able to pass my final exams

8. Securing a job by this year so as not to contribute to the growing number of jobless graduates in Malaysia.

10. Finding out that your download for the day is done by the time you get back from whatever you are doing.

A Week in the Sauna (Malaysia)

Whew, it sure is freaking hot here in Malaysia. The weather is a whole lot more unbearable now that the rains have stopped and the dry season is in. Everyday has been hot, hot, hot....

Haven't been doing much lately now that the monotony of the holidays have settled in. I've settled into the daily routine of deciding whether to go out or to just stay at home. Preferably, I'd go out and meet up with friends and take a nice long stroll to places I don't often go.

Lets see on Tuesday, I went down to KL to get some stuff sorted out for my trip to the US at my dad's office. Signed the bill and popped over to KLCC. Browsed some books at Kinokuniya before later meeting up with Kat in the afternoon.

Check it out!!Malaysia's very own Hover Boots!! Our govt. has been having secret talks with scientists in an undisclosed foreign country to design a pair of boots that allow people to walk on water!!

Spotted this mad fella lying ont the grass. Man, who's crazy enough to lie on our dirty muddy grass. Its not like in Western countries where the grass is so much "cleaner" that people can actually have picnics there.

Had lunch at Pizzi's a small little pizza shop in Selangor Dredging (same building as the British Council). Ordered way too much food and had to 'tapau' some stuff back. Headed over to times Sqaure so that we could take the new overhead bridge over to Low Yat Plaza. Helped her decide on pendrive that would suit her needs. Settled for an imation 512MB.

Later in the evening, headed over to Sungei Wang to look at stuff. Bought some Kerroro Gunso stuff and tried the capsule machine over at Sun Comics. Kinda pricey. But its better than getting the whole set of figurines....if you don't want the whole set of figurines that is. Got a lil' Shinji (Neon Genesis Evangelion) figure.

All is dark. Unlike the bustling city lights in Tokyo, KL is rather tame when it comes to neon light billboards.

Took a stroll down Bintang Walk to pass the evening away. Checking out all the nice (overpriced) restaurants at Star Hill and soaking up some free Jazz music from the band that was playing at Shooks. Would be nice to try one of these really snazzy looking restaurants.....provided I've got the cash to foot out the crazy bill.

Even the toilets in Star Hill have to be freaking expensive looking. I believe I've mentioned this one before, but I managed to take a pic this time around. As you can see the Pak Cik is washing his hand over a basin. Water is released when you pull the mechanism several times in a pump like motion.

Beating the heat at Sunway

You know you gotta hit the beach when the heat gets to you. In Malaysia, its hardly surprising to go through a day complaining about the unbearable heat (how it become so unbearable, remains to be seen). But since we are living in PJ, it is pretty hard to go PD or Penang to take a dip. So what choice do we have? Sunway Lagoon.

Yes, the one and only theme park in the heart of the city. Nowhere else can you find a man made beach or go surfing right next to a shopping mall. Well, it all sounds good on paper, that's why Kat and her friends planned to go to Sunway Lagoon after their exams. I tagged along for the ride to participate in the fun.

Picked Kat up from the station at around 10. Met Sabrina and the others just as we were walking away from my car. Gave us a fright. The entrance to the lagoon was oddly located at the corner of level 3. The construction of Pyramid 2 has cost the Lagoon its main entrance. Not only is it less accessible now, but the place is kinda struggling keeping visitors interested.

Sunway is very particular when visitors bring their own bottles into the park. Apparently, you MUST buy the park's filtered water.

After proceeding to buy the tickets, we made our way downstairs to the locker room area. It was a real challenge fitting 5 bags into one locker. Infact, this was tougher than fitting 21 people into a mini.

Our first ride was the "teacup" ride. Spinning around till we can spin no more. Kat wasn't feeling too good after I spun it for abit. Gotta cut down on them spins.

The second lion, who looked kinda dead. Not sure if he was breathing, but the first one didn't mind sniffing it to check if it still had a pulse.

Our next ride was the Lost City of Gold, been on this one before. Long ago when it first opened. Was kinda scary at that time. Wasn't so much this time around, though the sudden drop and constant dipping still made it scary during the first half of the ride.

We decided to get on the tamer roller coasters, the Buffalo Bill Coaster. Less scary by far and not so exciting as it was when I was younger.



As you can see most of us weren't scared by the ride at all. Even had time to pose for the camera.


Ai Ling and Kimberly kindly demonstrated how to go down a slope at maximum speed using an inflatable boat.

This was something that scares even the hell outta me. Going up a slippery cannoe with very little grip and come sliding backdown after reaching the peak. Plus you get very wet at the end of the ride.

Later we had lunch at the Wet Park area. The food was terrible and it was over charged. Rm 5.80 for a cheap Ramlee burger styled chicken burger. Disgraceful considering that Western theme parks DO have decent food.

All of us decided to head over to the Wave pool to get ourselves wet. Nice waterfall in the background.

A big part of the day was left unphotographed because we rented floats. We were all soaking wet after having "swam" around in circles around the river outlining the Wetpark.

Had to wait for the girls to finish changing before we finally decided to go back. Took the opportunity to take pictures around the place.

Sadly, it was time to go and we did have loads of fun. Like many theme parks, you just gotta go through a souvenier shop after everything you've been through.
